Call To Worship

Psalm 67:1-5

May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us,           Selah
that your way may be known on earth,
your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth.             Selah
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!

Worship Through the Reading of God’s Word:

Matthew 12:38-45

The Sign of Jonah

38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” 39 But he answered them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. 41 The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here. 42 The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

Return of an Unclean Spirit

43 “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it comes, it finds the house empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and the last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this evil generation.”

Worship Through Prayer:

Pray this with us (from 1 Peter 2:9-10)

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Lord God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: with all your creation, we praise you! You are all-good, all-knowing, and all-wise. All that is beautiful is from you, and all that is praise-worthy is in you. In you and by your grace and through your great mercy we have new life in you. You are our source of being, our guidance through the valley of the shadow of death, and our hope that steadies our souls like an anchor.

Father, we worship your gracious act of calling us to salvation in your Son, Jesus. You have chosen us to be your people; you have given us access to your throne as a priesthood of believers; you have set us apart to be a spiritual nation, who are marked by your love for us, our love for one another, and the fruits given and grown by your Spirit; and we are forever yours, and you are ours. Lord, you have done this not so that we can be made much of, but so that the fame of your name may reach to the ends of the earth. You have drawn us together in the gospel of Jesus to proclaim your excellencies. Truly, you have pulled us from the death of our darkness in the marvelous light of your grace. We live in your light now, and long for the day when we “will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be [our] light, and [we] will reign forever and ever.” (Revelation 22:4b)

We have no hope apart from you. In our sin, we were without life. But now that we have received mercy in Christ, we pray that you would lead us to extend mercy to ourselves and to those around us. Lord, help us to be merciful and gracious to those who think differently than us, to those who are rude and unwelcoming to us, and to those who most need to experience your mercy. Help us not be divisive, but united in the love we have received from you.

In Christ’s name we pray these things. Amen and amen.

-From Pastor Aaron

Song Lyrics for Drive-in Communion Service

“O Praise the Name” #7037787

I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me.
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet.
My Savior on that cursed tree.

His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph’s tomb.
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone.

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

Then on the third at break of dawn,
The Son of heaven rose again.
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ the King

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

He shall return in robes of white,
The blazing Son shall pierce the night.
And I will rise among the saints,
My gaze transfixed on Jesus’ face

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

“Mighty to Save” #4591782

Everyone needs compassion
A love that’s never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

My Savior, He can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to save, He is Mighty to save
Forever, Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender

My Savior, He can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to save, He is Mighty to save
Forever, Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

Shine your light and let the whole world see
We’re singing for the glory of the risen King Jesus
Shine your light and let the whole world see
We’re singing for the glory of the risen King Jesus

My Savior, He can move the mountains
My God is Mighty to save, He is Mighty to save
Forever, Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave
